WHERE TO START
Before you pick a rug, look at answering these questions: How is the room going to be used? Will it have heavy or light traffic? Will the room be the centre of activity for family and entertainment? Is there direct access from outside or will the carpet be away from entrances?
SHAPE AND SIZE
Size and shape depend on your taste, furniture, and space. Are you going to use a palace-sized rug for the centerpiece of a large room, or do you need a few small rugs for fun accents around the house? Runners look great in hallways, while round, oval, and square rugs might be best suited for your office space. Rectangular rugs are one of the most commonly available shapes
DESIGN AND COLOURS
The colours of a handmade rug can vary from dominant, rich, red hues to calm beige and camel variations. You will be amazed, however, when some subtle colours in a complex design are enhanced by the colour of your walls, furniture, or floors. Consider styles, but do not limit yourself.
